Meet the Team

Jaya originally began her career journey wanting to be a veterinarian but came to the conclusion that she would struggle greatly at the thought of an animal being harmed. She then went on to utilise her love for people, helping others and self-development, turning that into her greatest passion and into a lifelong rewarding career.

Jaya has always had a particular love for supporting the people around her, especially the people closest to her. She completed a Diploma in Counselling, graduated from a double degree; a Bachelor of Psychology and Counselling. She is continuing her studies to attain her Honours in Psychology and will then complete her Masters in Psychology.

Over the last few years, Jaya has worked in many roles where her main goal was to provide support and guidance in different aspects. These roles include: a Swimming Teacher, a Mental Health Specialist for various Insurance companies and a Counsellor at The Hills Clinic.

These roles highly motivated Jaya to continue to pursue a career more specialised in Counselling and Psychology, which has led to the creation of Ropana Therapy.

Utilising therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and more, to provide a positive experience of support, guidance and compassion for others to achieve a more fulfilling and peaceful life, is the ultimate objective of Ropana Therapy.

Chiara has always been passionate about working with people (and animals!). If she wasn’t a speech pathologist, she would have most likely been a veterinarian or a dermatologist. Every career she imagined for herself has involved supporting and working closely with others.

Chiara has a particular love for working with children and has always had roles supporting kids. She has had many years of experience working as a private violin and piano teacher to students of all ages and shared so much joy in seeing her students succeed in achieving their goals.

Chiara joined the world of speech pathology after following her younger sister’s journey of having a stutter. Through watching the way speech pathologists form a pivotal part in the communication journey, Chiara found her way into speech pathology, after completing two years of a Bachelor of Science.

Chiara’s sister, Priya, is a huge advocate in the stuttering community (@StutterConversation on Instagram by the way) and so supporting individuals with a stutter is a passion area for Chiara.

Chiara has completed additional training in the areas of Literacy and Gestalt Language Therapy and is passionate about taking a holistic approach to therapy that involves considering clients as a whole.

To Chiara, being a speech pathologist involves more than just ticking off goals (although this is still important!). To her, it is about fostering a relationship with her clients and their families, to ensure the therapy journey is a positive experience.
